The Founder

The Adult Health and Centre and Focus on Abilities Day Program was founded by Jenna Prince. Jenna was drawn into the field by her passion of making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, with her ultimate goal to provide your loved one with the utmost quality care.

Jenna has always had a passion for working with individuals with exceptionalities. When her brother was only 2 years old, he was diagnosed with a rare form of Pervasive Developmental Disorder (ASD). From a young age, Jenna grew up understanding the challenges faced by families caring for a loved one with a developmental disability. She grew up helping and caring for her younger brother, who required constant one on one care around the clock. It was also at this young age that Jenna’s love and compassion was ignited. This love and compassion for her brother started to spread into the community when she joined the local Sledge Hockey team and started volunteering at the Children's Treatment Center, Gatchell Public School and the Lifeskills program in her high school.

Jenna was also deeply inspired by the great accomplishment that her brother achieved while in school. She realized that a lot of her brother’s growth and independence stemmed from the dedication of his teachers to push him above and beyond everyone’s expectations. This is when Jenna realized that her dream was to encourage and inspire individuals with exceptionalities to become the best that they can be; just like her brother. Her compassion and love of working with this vulnerable population led her to Teacher's College where she graduated with her Special Education qualification. She later went on to work within the school system, as a respite worker, and at a local day program for adults with disabilities, where she was able to utilize her education and personal experience on a daily basis to help continue the growth and independence of the clients. Now, Jenna's goal is to apply her experience and endless compassion towards making a difference in the lives of every individual that walks through the Focus on Abilities doors!
